GBI-3SM + WinTer: The Holter Dream Team

Holter monitoring is a current practice in nowadays Cardiology and it is considered an important tool for the detection of cardiac arrhythmias and other transient symptoms of heart disease.

To be able to perform it, the physician needs both a Holter Monitor (also known as Holter Recorder), to record the ECG signal, and a Holter Analysis System or Holter Analyzer, to review all ECG data recorded and issue a report with conclusions.

The Holter Monitor is a portable device that is connected to the patient via electrodes. It is important for the Holter Monitor to have, besides the ability to record good quality ECG signals, the capacity to store a considerable amount of information (at least, 24 hours ECG). Also, as the patient has to carry it all day long, light weight and small size are much desirable features in a Holter monitor.

The Galix GBI-3SM Digital Holter Monitor is an excellent synthesis of these qualities and much more. This device can store up to 72 hours true 3 channels, very high quality ECG. It is tiny and ultra light, so it is easy to carry, even for children (Pediatric Cardiology). It has a built-in display, which enables the physician to view each ECG channel signal and to check that the electrodes have a good contact with the skin. Being a computerized device, the GBI-3SM has the ability to perform some sort of online processing on the ECG signals, such as pacemakers’ pulses detection. All the information is kept in a standard, low cost SD card.

On the other hand, it is the Galix WinTer Holter Analyzer. The core of the analyzer is a powerful, yet easy to use (and install) software, which runs on Windows. Regarding hardware requirements, the WinTer software can run on, virtually, any recent computer.

In a matter of seconds, the WinTer Holter Analyzer reads and processes the ECG signal recorded by the GBI-3SM. The outcome is an accurate and comprehensive analysis and report, with screens full of information. VE, SVE, VTACH, SVTACH, Couplets, Bygemini, Trigemini, Pauses, Paced beats, etc., are automatically detected and summarized in tables and graphics, that the cardiologist can print or review. The automatic analysis is accurate and quick. Furthermore, all the information (ECG, statistics, tables, etc.) is available and open to verification; the WinTer Holter analyzer counts with versatile tools that make it simple for the cardiologist to perform a very deep analysis.
